Tunya,
Thank you so much for the post today. Very well put.

Parents have no rights in schools today. There have been two court cases in the last year stating that the school knows best about curriculum for the child.

A school district in Klamath Falls used an attorney to look at their finances and a court ruled the public cannot get access to the findings due to attorney client protections.

The National director of school boards stated that school board members are not to think of themselves as arepresentative for their constituency.

When I spoke out about educational malpractice of my local district, they threatened me, (in writing)with a law suit.

What rights?

This is my comment today--thirty years after producing this compilation entitled: Parent Rights in their Children's Education.

Last month I visited Seattle to see the Dead Sea Scrolls Discovery presentation at the museum. I was very impressed that people had written down rules for living as they gave structure and values to existence. It's a very impressive show.

The experience made me think that the Parent Rights document which was produced in the 70's was a small effort to try and codify good practice and give structure to lives which may be frustrating and confusing.

I would be very interested in receiving feedback about the present situation in schools today. Would parents be helped by having their rights made known to them, via the schools themselves?

Remember, my involvement and activism goes back 30-40 years. Maybe things have changed now.
